Wednesday, March 26th - Today we completed our Act 2 activities. That is our act completion assignment, and we had our first literature circles. Tomorrow we will begin Act 3.
Tuesday, March 25th - Today we finished reading Act 2 - Today you began your Act 2 completion assignment. You will have 10 minutes tomorrow at the beginning of class to finish this.
Monday, March 24th - Today we began reading Act 2. We finished Scene 2.
Friday March 21st - Today we worked on the two assignment for the end of act 1: News Report and Text Features
Thursday, March 20th - Today we finished Act 1 of Romeo & Juliet - We began looking at a news report template (will get back to tomorrow) - We got our text features unit tests back
Wednesday, March 19th - Today your essays were due - We also started Romeo & Juliet - We read to the end of Act 1, Scene 2
Tuesday, March 18th - Today was your final day to work on your persuasive essay in the computer lab. They are due tomorrow at the beginning of class.
Monday, March 17th - Today you received your essay plans back with my feedback and you worked towards your final essay. Tomorrow is your last opportunity in class to complete your essay.
Thursday, March 6th - Today we were in the lab working on our detailed essay plans. You submitted your plan for feedback.

Monday, March 3rd - I was away last week and you were working on your essay - I have just booked the lab for Thursday - Reminder: Today I changed the essay due date. Your DETAILED PLAN will be due at the end of class on Thursday, and then we will continue to work on the essays after the break.
Thursday, February 20th - Today we went over the feedback about essay writing - We also had a debate to introduce the concept of persuasive topics

Wednesday, February 19th - Today you developed a plan and summary for a short story. -This was the final day that we will be going over these concepts. -On March 5th you will have a test on these concepts. You will be given 2 short stories to choose from, and will have to apply the text features and write a summary for the story.

Friday, February 14th - Today we completed out first 'Friday Free Write' - We also discussed three different ways to summarize (and when each way is the most effective) then applied this information to an episode of Franklin.

Thursday, February 13th - Today we continued exploring the text features of short stories. We reviewed our note from yesterday. We then read a short story in group and identified/explained our reasoning for the text features.
Wednesday, February 12th - Today we discussed reading strategies and applied them to newspaper articles and info graphics - Today you took a note on short stories, and applied that information to a story that was read to you

Friday, February 7th - Today we interviewed a classmate for the biography that we will be writing on Monday. We also completed literary terms posters to hang in the classroom.
Thursday, February 6th - Today we went over the course outline, expectations, and got to know each other.
